Its Been Awhile..and I've been Knitting Socks

It's really been awhile since I've popped in and posted. I didn't mean to be gone so long, but there have been some issues with my new grand son, Henry. He is now 5 months old and will be having kidney surgery when he turns 1, in the meantime it's been a lot of back and forth helping my daughter.
I haven't been without knitting, in fact, I am making my very first pair of socks and I must say I am quite liking it a lot. I really never saw the purpose in making socks since they are so easy to purchase and often at fair pricing. However, once I started I understood and have quickly become addicted. They may not look like much in the photographs and can assure they are nearly done with the exception of sewing the toes close. I can see making many more pairs down the road. These where done with Red Heart/Heart and Sole yarn. I thought I might try them first and then go to a more quality yarn although these are pretty darn comfortable, not to heavy and breathable. The pattern was a bit tricky as most Bernat Patterns often turn out that way. There is a YouTube video by Sandy Davis which really helped a ton, explained very well and video taped nicely. Sandy uses Bernat Sox yarn which is a bit heavier on size 3 needles. I used the same pattern with the Red Heart/Heart and Sole yarn on size 2 needles made them a bit longer both at the cuff down and along the foot. I used the size Medium following the pattern and love them. Again I measured my foot and adjust them to the proper length and made them so they bunch up at the ankle. I like my socks that way which are hard to find. As soon as I sew up the toes and weave in the ends I will pop back with a photograph wearing them.
I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Christmas...and will enjoy the same for the New Year.
Thank you so very much for following along with me, it really has meant a lot to me. Happy New Year to all dear friends.
